Wincanton, Wednesday 5th April

Today we head to Wincanton with three runners starting with Seelotmorebusiness in the 2.15pm Amateur Jockeys Handicap Hurdle, where I give Rupert Wilks another ride which I’m looking forward to. Seelotmorebusiness was disappointing at Wincanton last time out but I don’t think he let himself down on the quicker ground. This should be a bit more suitable for him hopefully. He’s got a lot of weight but Rupert takes off a handy 7lb and hopefully he can equip himself well.

Hard Frost runs in the Novice Handicap Chase at 2.50pm. He finished 2nd last time out beaten a nose at Market Rasen. It wasn’t a great race and unfortunetely he went up 4lb for that which doesn’t make life any easier but we’re optimist that good to soft ground, opposed to heavy ground last time will suit a bit better. The way he finished his last race, the two and half mile trip today will hopefully help him. Touch wood he jumped the chase fences well last time out so if he does that again then he’ll give himself a chance.

Our last runner of the day is Puffin Bay in the Mares Handicap Hurdle at 4.35pm, who is having her first run for me after we bought her from Mr Sherwood in the summer. She’s a nice mare and she’s in good form. She’s been ready to run for 3 weeks now but I’ve been waiting for some nice ground. I’m hoping that good to soft ground will be perfectly suitable for her and she’s won around course and distance. It’s a competitive little race but I’m hoping she’s fit enough to equip herself well.
