Wincanton, Saturday 7th January

Today we travel to Wincanton to run Prince Nino in the 12.55 and Beyond Redemption in the 3.50pm.

Prince Nino pulled up at Taunton last week having got quite tired after a very long lay off. Hopefully that run will have brought him on and he’ll be able to give a better showing today.

I’ve popped a pair of cheekpieces on him in an effort to engage his brain slightly more as I have a suspicion he can be slightly idle at times.

Beyond Redemption runs in the final race on the card and I’m looking forward to him running. Ed Bailey bought him for me in the summer and he comes into this having been in fine form in the point to pointing fields last season in Ireland. This looks a good race for the level but I am hopeful he will give a bold bid today.

He is such a fun horse to have around the yard and seems to be thoroughly enjoying his training. I believe that I have got him pretty fit but having said that he is an older horse so perhaps he’ll take a run.

He certainly couldn’t have done much more work at home and I think he’ll run really well.
