Today we head to Wincanton with two runners, Casual Observer and Fourofakind.
First up is Casual Observer in the 12.20pm Novices’ Hurdle. He ran nicely in a bumper at Market Rasen the other day but it was very clear to us after that run that his future lie over hurdles. He’s a lovely jumper and I think two and a half miles over hurdles is going to bring out the best in him. He’s still quite an immature horse but he’s a horse that in my opinion will progress nicely as he goes through he hurdling ranks. It looks a competitive little novices’ hurdle but I think he’ll run a nice race with some promise for the future.
Fourofakind goes next in the 2.05pm Handicap Hurdle. He has been very disappointing so far this season. He had an injury last year at the back end of his last race and we hope and think that it’s just taken a while for him to get his confidence back. He’s certainly showing signs at home that his confidence is back, schooling much better but you could be no more than hopeful given that his two showings this season have been a long way below his best. I’ve reached for cheekpieces again because Paul thought he was saving a bit for himself last time out, so fingers crossed that will help bring about the required improvement.
