Uttoxeter, Saturday 15th June

Today we head to Uttoxeter with two runners, Valsad and O’Gradys Hill.

First up is Valsad in the Novices’ Hurdle at 5.40pm who is a new horse to us. He comes with some pretty good flat form. His schooling has been nice, a proper hurdler, he’s not an over big horse but he’s very athletic and a good moving horse. His work as you’d expect for a horse with that rating on the flat has been really good. If he settles then I think he has a really strong chance, he’s got that bit of class. Obviously the key to any flat horse when they go jumping is to jump well but if Paul can get him in a nice rhythm then I think he’ll take a good bit of beating.

O’Grady’s Hill runs in the Mares’ Bumper at 8.45pm who Ed Bailey and I bought from Doncaster not too long ago. She’s a point to point winner and she’ll like the good ground. It was a toss up between a two mile mares hurdle the day before and this bumper and we think that sometimes a bumper can be a better test of stamina. She’s running in this for us to learn a bit more about her before she goes in a mares novice hurdle in a months time but she’s a nice mare and hopefully has a nice each way.
