Profile
Name: Nordic Tiger
Age: 3 years old
Unfortunately our Racing Club horse, Nordic Tiger has suffered a set back.
At the beginning of February Nordic Tiger went lame behind on the left hind after routine exercise. After examination by our vets on a number of occasions, despite negative ultrasound findings, the physical examination suggested a strong possibility of a pelvic stress fracture. Sadly this means that Nordic Tiger requires a period of rest. The vet has advised a month of box rest before reassessing, with a view to starting some walking exercise before a period of turn out.
Given at the time of injury we are already closing in on the end of the season and Harry does not want to run Tiger on any firm ground, the plan is to give him the box rest he requires and then turn him out for an early spring/summer break. The vet has advised that he would expect him to able able to resume normal training in the late summer with the aim of starting on the racetrack for an autumn campaign.
Nordic Tiger will therefore start training again in July with the full team and he will be trained for next season.
Given that the club membership runs until April 2024, the members club is still active however we want to be full transparent about Nordic Tiger’s injury.
We will still be hosting our club zoom Q&A’s and as soon as we make it to our new yard in the summer we will be hosting the 4 stables visits. We will also keep sharing regular updates on Tiger’s wellbeing and recovery. He is currently at our bloodstock agent Ed Bailey’s farm in Herefordshire on box rest and members will be kept updated on his well being.
About Nordic Tiger:
A compact three year old son of Choeur Du Nord, Nordic Tiger ran well on his only hurdle start in his native France back in July when finishing fourth at Dax. Nordic Tiger travelled nicely through that race and was in a clear second when making an immature jumping mistake at the second last putting pay to his winning chances and indeed his chance of finishing second. He was since bought privately and has matured well for a break here in the UK.
Nordic Tiger has an enthusiastic attitude to his work and at this stage we are very pleased with him. He is a strong and compact horse who we believe will improve with experience and time and should provide his ownership group with plenty of fun days out on the course.
