Plumpton, Monday 4th November

Today we head to Plumpton with four runners, Barrabool, Scamallach Liath, Shared and Recoded.

First up is Barrabool in the Mares Maiden Hurdle at 12.58pm. She’ s a lovely mare who I’ve been really pleased with since Ed Bailey bought her in May. Her schooling has been good. This looks a warm race despite there not being many runners but if she jumps well and shows promise for the future then I’ll be delighted. I think that she’s a mare that will progress through the season and I do like her.

Our next runner is Scamallach Liath in the Handicap Chase at 2.30pm. I’d prefer if the ground was a bit slower but we’ve trained him for this race since the middle of the summer. His schooling over fences has been fine without setting the world alight. He stays well and if he brings his hurdling form to fences then he should be tough to beat. I’ve just got in the back of my mind that the track is slightly on the sharp side for him but three and a quarter miles should be a good test of stamina.

In the Handicap Hurdle at 3.40pm we run Shared who I’m dropping back to two miles after being slightly disappointing last time out. Hopefully he can put in an improved performance but he will need to off top weight.

Our final runner of the day in the Handicap Hurdle at 4.10pm is Recoded, who ran really nicely on yard debut last time out at Huntingdon, I was delighted with his effort there. I’d like to think he’s improved for that run a good bit. The ground will suit, I’m not sure about the track for him but the race looks suitable and he’s a lovely genuine horse who hopefully will run a nice race.
