Plumpton, Monday 11th March

Today we head to Plumpton with 3 runners, Salvatore, Hard Frost and Nordic Tiger.

First up is Salvatore in the Novices’ Handicap Hurdle at 3pm. He’s been a bit disappointing in novice hurdles so far. We thought he’d run well at Wincanton second time out when he faded quite quickly. He didn’t run so badly at Newbury last time out and his opening in mark of 95 looks about accurate on what he’s achieved. He won in blinkers on the flat so I’ve popped a pair of cheekpieces on him in hope rather than expectation. A tongue tie goes on as well. I’d like to think he can be competitive in this race but I’m hopeful rather than expectant.

Next up is Hard Frost in the Handicap Chase at 4pm, who was disappointing last time out but until then had been progressive and was doing well. He’s in really really good form again now and I’m looking forward to him running. I think he’s got a chance in what looks an open enough race.

Finally Nordic Tiger goes in the Handicap Hurdle at 4.30pm. He’s up ten pounds from winning last time out which will make life tougher. He’s a very genuine horse who should run his race. A step back up to two and a half miles is a positive.
