Newbury and Doncaster, Saturday 2nd December

Today we head to Newbury and Doncaster.

At Newbury we run Il Va De Soi and Brentford Hope. Il Va De Soi goes in the Novice Hurdle at 1.05pm. He ran a nice race on debut for us, he  jumped very well that day. A step up to two and a half miles will suit him well and he will appreciate nice ground. I don’t think he will be good enough in this competition but I hope for another nice run for him. He’s a horse that could come into his own in the spring I think.

Our other runner is Brentford Hope in the Gerry Fielding at 2.15pm. He won very well at Newbury three weeks ago and this has been the plan ever since the start of the season. I think he’s improved for his last run, he will need too as this is obviously a step up in grade and it sounds like Under Control is going to be very hard to beat, but our lad is in great form and I’m very excited to run him.

At Doncaster we run Mapogo in the 3.16pm National Hunt Flat Race. He got stuck in the mud really at Exeter last time out, when we thought he’d run much better than that. He did choke on the ground, so I’m hoping better ground here will suit him an awful lot better. I’ve put a tongue tie on him which he’s worked in and seems to be fine in so I hope he shows much better today.
