Newbury, Saturday 23rd March

Today we head back to Newbury with three runners, Lario, The Blueberry One and Sir Psycho.

First up in the Novices’ Hurdle at 1.40pm is Lario and The Blueberry One.

Lario is new to me, having purchased him privately. He won at Plumpton last time out in good style despite it being a bit of a muddling race with plenty of hurdles out. He strikes me like he’s still learning quite a lot but he looks to have quite a lot of raw ability and if he runs like he works then he’ll go very close.

The Blueberry One’s second start for us was really good, I was really pleased with him. He’s a big immature horse, a horse I absolutely love but just a big baby. I think another step up on his run last time out could see him placed in this, which I would be thrilled with. He’s a horse I’m really looking forward to next season.

Our last runner is Sir Psycho in the Handicap Chase at 2.40pm, who ran a really good race last time out at this track when he was just slowly away for some reason. But if he gets in a good rhythm jumping, the drier ground will suit him and I’d like to think he’s got a good chance of running nice race here.
