Today we travel to Musselburgh, a meeting I always loved in my time with Paul so I’m delighted to be having runners there in my own right.
Shared, who won on debut is our first runner in a listed race at 1.22pm. It is obviously a step up in class so he will have to improve on what he achieved at Wetherby and whilst it is a quick turn around he seems in good form and I’m hoping he can run a nice race and make the frame. I am optimistic that the drying ground will be a positive for him. Musselburgh is obviously a much sharper test than Wetherby but if he jumps like he did last time out then hopefully he will be able to hold his own in a higher grade.
My second runner today is Fidelio Vallis in the Scottish Champion Chase at 1.55pm. Since I started training this horse on the 7th September this has been the target and I’m very much looking forward to running him. He has obviously not run for a very long time but has done a lot of work at home and I’ve been extremely happy with him. A right handed flat track on good ground seem to be his optimal conditions, my only question mark really is that now that he’s a little bit older whether he wants two and a half miles. Nevertheless I think he’ll run a massive race.
