Haydock Park, Wednesday 20th March

Today we head to Haydock Park with two runners, Glorious Lion and Ascending Lark.

First up is Glorious Lion in the Juvenile Hurdle 2.15pm. He’s run really well in defeat this season, I’ve been really pleased with his last two efforts. He’s just been getting stuck in the mud and I’d imagine the same will happen today however I’d like him to get in the first 4 so he can qualify for a final at Musselburgh in a few weeks time. That is the main objective but he’s obviously trying his best here. Golden Maverick looks the one to beat.

In the third race at 3.15pm we run Ascending Lark. She came to us at the start of the season, she’s very well bred and has some nice bumper form in Ireland but she has been really really tricky to get right. I’ve been trying since August with her and failing, but she seems to have really turned a corner this last month. I’ve been very happy with her and if she gets into a good jumping rhythm, it wouldn’t surprise me if she was a fraction novicey, but if she does then I think she’s got a big chance.
