Fontwell and Exeter, Friday 21st April

Today we head to both Fontwell and Exeter.

At Fontwell we run Fourofakind who’s had a good season for us so far. He goes in the 2 mile 3 furlong Handicap Hurdle at 3.50pm, with Alice Stevens taking off a handy 7lb. He ran well for a long way last time out at Ascot and in the end just wasn’t quite good enough in what looked liked quite a warm race. This is a step back down in class and he has a handy four year old allowance as well as Alice’s claim, so I’m hoping that he can run well. Paul thinks that the extra couple of furlongs will be no problem to him and in a competitive little race I think he can run well providing he stays that extra distance, which I think on a tight track on nice ground he should.

Any Biscuits goes to Exeter in the Novices’ Handicap Hurdle at 5.35pm. He won nicely at Market Rasen last time in a weak race and he’s up 5lb for that. I’m hopeful of a good run today, two and a quarter miles suit well and I think a more galloping track won’t pose any issues for him. I suppose the biggest challenge for Paul will be to get him settled in a big field but I hope they go a good gallop and he gets a little bit of cover and if he’s improved again, which we think he has a little bit, then he will run a very competitive race.
