Bangor-on-dee, Saturday 20th April

Today we travel to Bangor-on-Dee to have my first runners at the track.

First up in the Novices’ Handicap Hurdle at 3.25pm is Balhambar who won nicely at Ludlow last time out jumping fluently throughout the race. We were very pleased with him. The ground was quite soft and holding that day and he’ll definitely be more effective on drier ground which hopefully he’ll get today. He’s gone up 6lb so he’ll need an improved performance but we think he is improving and we like to think that he can run very very well.

In the following race, the Handicap Hurdle at 4pm is Far Sight who is new to me this season. He was obviously an immature horse at Mr Hobbs and ran some decent races in defeat. A step up in trip I think is a positive and if he settles I think he can run a really nice race. He’s in great shape, he’s been schooling nicely and Paul’s looking forward to riding him so hopefully he can run a big race.
